How do I get a press brake tooling quotation?
Send the machine details, the tooling interface, the material and thickness, the profile or part drawing, the quantity and the delivery country. With those six items a quotation can be prepared without a site visit or a phone call.
What to include in a quotation request
The more of this list you can supply, the fewer questions come back and the faster the quotation is accurate rather than indicative.
| Item | Why it is needed |
|---|---|
| Machine make and model | Establishes the interface |
| Measured tang width and punch height | Confirms the interface if the model is ambiguous |
| Photograph of the clamp | Shows the retention and holder arrangement |
| Material grade and thickness | Sets the tool steel, hardness and load rating |
| Part or tooling drawing | Defines any special profile |
| Length and segment split | Determines material usage and price |
| Quantity and repeat frequency | Sets the setup amortisation |
| Delivery country | Affects freight, duty and lead time |
What determines the price of press brake tooling?
The profile, the tool steel and hardness, the length and segment split, the quantity, and whether the profile is standard or special. A special profile carries design and setup cost that a catalogue item does not.
What determines lead time?
Whether the tool is a catalogue item or made to drawing, the availability of the tool steel, and the heat treatment and grinding sequence required. Ask for the lead time against the specific tool.
- Catalogue profiles are generally the fastest to supply.
- Special profiles need design, machining, heat treatment and grinding.
- Through-hardened dies take longer than induction-hardened punches.
- Freight adds transit time that varies by destination.
Where is press brake tooling supplied?
Tooling is supplied to the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia and Europe, as well as to other destinations on request. Freight and duty are quoted for the destination.
For customers in the United States and Canada, the Amada, Trumpf / Wila and American interfaces cover most machines in service; the European interface is common on imported equipment.
Can I get a sample or a trial tool first?
For a special profile, a first-off tool is the sensible route before committing to a set. For standard profiles, order the segment combination the job needs rather than a full set.
